Sustainability

What does “sustainable” really mean?

By definition, something is either sustainable or it isn’t. The Fashion supply chain is a complicated, multi-layered system that involves a lot of different processes from farming, fiber processing, yarn spinning, fabric milling, dye & finishing, and all the transportation in bertween. Perfection doesn’t quite exist...yet, but amazing solutions for lowering social and environmental impacts throughout the process do. And we have them!

Fiber & Yarn Source

GOTS Certified Organic Cotton

Organic cotton is cotton that is produced and certified to organic agricultural standards. Its production sustains the health of soils, ecosystems and people by using natural processes rather than artificial inputs. Importantly organic cotton farming does not allow the use of toxic chemicals or GMOs (genetically modified organisms). Instead, it combines tradition, innovation and science to benefit the shared environment and promote a good quality of life for all involved

RCOT™ Recycled Cotton

Texloop™ RCOT™ Primo recycled cotton yarns are high quality, compact ring-spun yarns made with 50% GRS certified recycled cotton (RCOT™) fiber and 50% GOTS certified organic cotton fiber. With Texloop’s “Lightest Touch” processing strategies, they produce some of the finest, longest staple recycled cotton from pre-consumer textile-waste that’s equal to the quality as most conventional cotton with at least half of the environmental impacts.

TENCEL™ Lyocell

TENCEL™ cellulosic fibers of botanic origin define a new standard of sustainability and natural comfort for you. TENCEL™ fibers help to maintain the environmental balance by being integrated into nature´s cycle. The fibers originate from the renewable raw material wood, created by photosynthesis. The certified biobased fibers are manufactured using an environmentally responsible production process. The fibers are certified as compostable and biodegradable, and thus can fully revert back to nature.

Hemp

Hemp is a natural plant fiber. It is a bast fiber, which means it comes from the stem of a plant (like linen, which hemp is often likened to, in addition to ramie, jute, flax, and bamboo). Hemp is a relatively fast growing annual plant, growing up to 4 meters high in only 3 months. Hemp can easily be incorporated into current cropping systems and is commonly grown in rotation with winter wheat. Hemp is effective in suppressing weeds, thus leading to a reduction in herbicides in the following crop. It also leaves the soil in excellent condition because its deep rooting system improves soil structure and its lack of dependence of herbicides and pesticides helps by breaking pest and disease cycles
